About The Project
Unspoken to Unbroken is a global journey by bicycle, led by a father in his 50s from Zululand, a rural area in South Africa, now living in the UK.
Marked by personal loss and silence, he sets out to cycle across continents to explore the hidden weight of trauma—and what happens when we speak it aloud.
This is not just one man’s story—it’s a call to all of us.
To speak. To share. To heal.

About Me

From Unspoken to Unbroken — the Story Behind the Ride
I’m a father in my 50s, originally from Zululand — a rural area in South Africa — now living
in the UK. For years, my life looked “successful” from the outside: family, business, a new life
abroad. But behind the surface was something deeper — a quiet storm of unspoken trauma,
personal mistakes, and emotional isolation.
I was raised in a culture where pain was hidden, where silence was strength, and where
vulnerability felt like weakness. So I learned to bury it. I didn’t talk about what hurt. I didn’t ask for
help. And for a long time, I kept going — until I couldn’t anymore.
This project is my turning point.
A decision to stop hiding and start healing.
To speak my truth, no matter how messy or uncomfortable.
And to show others that there’s strength — not shame — in doing the same.

Why This Journey Matters
I’ve set out on this journey by bicycle — not just for the adventure, but to connect with the
country-side and it’s people, hear their stories, and learn how different communities
experience and respond to silent childhood trauma.
I’m hoping to speak in universities, local clubs, and any space where people are open to conversation
— because the more we share, the more we understand.
This isn’t just my story. It’s something many of us can relate to.
Pain is something we all experience. My wish is that we all experience the hope
that can follow the pain of childhood trauma.
The Journey
A Global Ride for Truth and Healing.
This isn’t a race. It’s not about speed or distance.
It’s about the experiences along the way — and the people I meet.
My aim is to cycle across countries and continents, guided by connection, curiosity, and a
simple question I’ll be asking wherever I go:
“What happens when we begin to speak our truth?”
From university lecture halls to small villages, from city cafés to local community groups
— I’m using this time to listen, to learn, and to exchange stories.
Every stop is a chance to understand more about how people, cultures, and communities
approach pain, silence, and healing.
Why a Bicycle?
Because it slows you down.
Because it brings you closer to people, places, and your own breath.
I chose to travel by bike not just for the adventure — but because movement has always been
part of my healing. After years of feeling stuck emotionally, getting outdoors, becoming active
again, and finding simple routines — like cycling — helped me reconnect with myself.
The fresh air, the physical effort, the silence between the spokes… it all reminded me that healing
lives in the small, consistent things. That taking care of your body is one of the most powerful
steps in taking care of your mind.
The bicycle is more than a mode of transport. It’s a metaphor:
→ Progress through effort
→ Balance through movement
→ Life embraced in motion

A World of Stories
This journey may have started with my story, but it’s not about me alone.
Along the way, I hope people will reach out — to connect, to talk, and to share their own truths.
Whether it’s a quiet voice note while I ride through the hills, or a heartfelt conversation scheduled
along my route, these moments will become part of the fabric of this project.
If they’re open to it, I’ll share their stories with my followers — creating a living, breathing archive
of real human experiences from every corner of the globe. Different cultures. Different struggles.
Shared humanity.
Because we all carry something.
And sometimes, hearing someone else speak up helps us do the same.
